Equivalent Frame Point Support Form

Access the Equivalent Frame Point Support form as follows

  1. Click the Tools menu > Equivalent Frame command to display the Equivalent Frame Models form.

  2. Then do one of the following to display the Equivalent Frame form:

    • Click the Add New EFM button

    • Click the Add New EFM From Strip Object button, the Add Copy of EFM button or the Modify/Show EFM button.

  1. Click the Edit menu > Point Support Data command and then the Support Details button.

Use the Equivalent Frame Point Support form to refine the definition of the equivalent frame support.

In the Point Loads at Top of Top Support area, click the Add button to select a load pattern and input a vertical force, longitudinal force and moment at the top of the top support. The Add button is available only if the top property is not None.

Note: If the Add Rigid Diaphragm Constraint at Top of Columns and Walls Above option has been checked using the main menu bar Run > Advanced Modeling Options command, a rigid diaphragm constraint will be used when the top support has a far end fixity set to Free or Point Spring Property.

Note: Drop panels will be included in an equivalent frame only if they have been specified on the Equivalent Frame Point Support form - a drop specified on the Column Property Data form will be ignored.  However, column capitals defined on the Column Property Data form will be used to adjust the stiffness of the transverse torsional springs.
