Form: Cable Property/Stiffness Modification Factor
Modification factors can be defined as part of cable properties and assigned directly to cable objects. Note that when modification factors are assigned directly to a cable that also has modification factors defined as part of its cable properties, the two factors are multiplied. Therefore, it is intended that modification factors be specified using a cable property definition or a cable assignment, not both.
The definition of modification factors as part of cable properties allows application of modification factors whenever a particular cable property definition is used.
The property modifier assignment allows application of the modification factors on a "cable-object-by-cable-object" basis (although multiple cables can be selected). This may be needed to incorporate the effect of cracking of sections or the enhancement in a particular property of the section because of the presence of other members that may, for some reason, not have been modeled. CSiBridge allows you to change these properties for frame, cable and area objects.
Note that the modification factors affect only the analysis properties. They do not affect the design properties. The CSiBridge default for all modification factors is 1.
Specify modification factors as part of the section properties as follows:
Click the Components > Type > Cable Properties > Expand arrow command to access the Cable Sections form.
Click the Add New Section button, or highlight a previously defined cable or tendon section definition and click the Add Copy of Section or Modify/Show Section button, to display the Cable Section Data form.
Click the Modify/Show Cable Property Modifiers button to access the Cable Property/Stiffness Modification Factors form.
Enter the required values for the modification factors by typing the values in the edit boxes for the individual factors; then click the OK button
Specify modification factors on an cable-object-by-cable-object basis as follows:
Select the cable(s) to be assigned property modification factors.
Click the Advanced > Assign > More > Cable > Property Modifiers command to access the Cable Property/Stiffness Modification Factors form. Use this form to assign the modification factors to the selected cable object(s).
Enter the required values for the modification factors by typing the values in the edit boxes for the individual factors; then click the OK button
