Use the Load Case Data - Hyperstatic form to define a hyperstatic load case. A hyperstatic load case calculates the linear response of the structure with all supports removed and loaded only by the reactions from another linear static load case. This is typically used to calculate the secondary forces under prestress loading. Click the Analysis > Type > Hyperstatic > New command to display the Load Case Data - Hyperstatic form.
Load Case Name edit box. Use the name shown or type a new name in this edit box. It should be unique among all load cases of all types. Click the Set Def Name button to use a default name for the load case.
Notes Modify/Show button. Click this button to access the Load Case Notes form. Use the form to add about this load case to the model file.
Design button. Click this button to access the Design Load Type form. Choose Program Determined, or User Specified and then a design type from the drop-down list. Design load types are used in creating automatic design load combinations.
Linear Case Name drop-down list. Choose a linear static load case from which to get the reactions that will be applied as loading in the hyperstatic case. This linear static case is expected to be loaded by self-equilibrating forces, such as due to prestress or temperature loading, although this is not required. The stiffness used for the hyperstatic case will be the same as that used for the selected linear static case, so that the same P-delta, staged-construction, and other nonlinear effects are taken into account.
