The Bridge Design Request allows selection of the bridge object to be designed and the overwrites to be applied during the design. An unlimited number of design requests can be specified.
Name. Specify a unique Name for the seismic design request.
Note Modify/Show button. Click this button to display the Design Request Notes form and add any notes to the model file.
Bridge Object drop-down list. Use this drop-down list to select the bridge object to be designed.
Check Type drop-down list. Use this drop-down list to select the design check type to be designed. Choose AASHTO Seismic Design for the uniform ground motion and choose Caltrans Fault Crossing for the relative ground motion.
Design Request Parameters Modify/Show button. Click this button to access the Substructure Seismic Design Request Parameters form. Use that form to apply overwrites to the program defaults for the identified parameters.
Fault Definition option. This option is needed only when the Check Type is Caltrans Fault Crossing. The Station and Orientation are required for the Planar Fault definition. The default orientation represents 90 degrees from the Global x axis.
Loading. Use the spreadsheet in this area of the form to specify the loading definition.
For the Check Type is AASHTO Seismic Design, the response spectrum function for the horizontal direction is required and is optional for the vertical direction.
For the Check Type is Caltrans Fault Crossing with Planar Fault, input the relative displacement(s) at the fault and response spectrum function(s) for the direction parallel, normal and/or vertical to the fault, and/or input the response spectrum function(s) for the Uniform Acceleration for the direction parallel, normal and/or vertical to the default.
For the Check Type is Caltrans Fault Crossing with General Displacement Loading, click the Add or Delete buttons to add/delete the loading data and modify the load pattern, scale factors, and response-spectrum functions.
