Run Seismic

Form: Perform Bridge Design - Seismic

The Design/Rating > Seismic Design > Run Seismic command starts the bridge seismic design process.

  1. Use the Bridge Wizard or the commands on the various tabs to create a bridge model. At least a layout line and deck section must be defined so that a bridge object can be defined. Specify Load Patterns and Load Cases that are then combined in Load Combinations, which are generated automatically by the program to satisfy the limit state(s) specified in the code selected using the Design/Rating > Seismic Design > Preferences command; load combinations also can be user specified.

  2. Use the Design/Rating > Seismic Design > Design Requests command to create named design request that describe which design is to be performed.

  3. Click the Design/Rating > Seismic Design > Run Seismic command to display the Perform Bridge Design - Seismic form. Use that form to set the action for individual design requests or for all design requests simultaneously.

Delete a Design Request

Highlight a Request Name and click the Delete Design for Request button to delete the design for the selected request. The program will ask if all program-generated items should or should not be removed (e.g., Load Cases, Load Patterns, Load Combos, Generalized Displacement, Groups, Named Frame Property Modifiers and Hinges, if any). Use the Delete All Designs button to delete all designs simultaneously. If design for one request is deleted, the status of the design will be set to Not Run.

Clean Up Request

Highlight a Request Name and click the Clean up Request button to remove the program-generated items for the selected request if they have not been removed. Use the Clean up All Requests button to remove all program-generated items simultaneously.

Important: When designs are deleted, you will be asked for confirmation. After a design has been deleted, it cannot be recovered until design is run again. Clicking the Cancel button will not undelete them.  Also, a design request can not be deleted as described here until after the design has been run.

Note:  To delete a design request, click the Design/Rating > Seismic Design > Design Requests command to access the Bridge Seismic Design Requests {Code} form. Highlight the request to be deleted and click the Delete Request button.

  1. After the design has been performed, use the Home > Display > Show Bridge Superstructure Forces/Stress command to access the Bridge Object Response Display form. Use the various options on that form to review and evaluate the design.
