Assign : Frame Assignments - Spandrel, Shell Assignments - Spandrel
A wall spandrel can be made from a combination of both shell objects (shell elements) and frame objects (frame elements). To report output forces for wall spandrels or to design wall spandrels, first the wall spandrels must be defined.
Define a wall spandrel by selecting all of the frame or shell objects that make up the spandrel and assigning them the same spandrel name. If a spandrel pier is made up of both frame and shell objects, assign the spandrel label to the frame and shell objects separately. For example, assume a spandrel pier to be labeled S23 is made up of both frame and shell objects.
Select the frame objects to be assigned the spandrel label.
Click the Assign menu > Frame > Spandrel Label command to display the Frame Assignments - Spandrel Label form.
Select S23 from the display list and click the Apply button to make the assignment. Any previously assigned pier label will be replaced by this assignment..
To remove all assignments, highlight the None option, and click the Apply button.
Note that clicking the Modify/Show Definitions button will display the Spandrel Labels form, which can be used to define a new pier label.
When the Apply button is used, the Frame Assignments - Spandrel Label form will remain open until it is closed by clicking the Close button. This allows selection of another frame object(s), to which a different assignment can be made.
If only one assignment is being made to only one set of selected objects, the OK button can be used to both apply the assignment and to close the form.
Select the shell objects to be assigned the spandrel label.
Click the Assign menu > Shell > Spandrel Label command to display the Shell Assignments - Spandrel form.
Select S23 from the display list and click the Apply button to assign the shell objects to the same Spandrel name as the frame objects.
