Unbraced Lengths

To use unbraced lengths other than those determined by ETABS, change the assumed unbraced length for any beam in the composite beam overwrites. This is true for both the construction loading unbraced lengths and the final loading unbraced lengths.

1. Select a beam or beams.

2. Select the Design menu > Composite Beam Design > View/Revise Overwrites command to access the Composite Beam Overwrites form.

3. Click the Bracing (C) or Bracing tab.

4. Click the Bracing Condition drop-down list and select Length Specified.

5. Specify if the length is absolute (yes or no).

6. Specify a value for L22.

7. Click the OK button to accept the changes.
