View/Revise Preferences

Form:  {Design Type} Preferences

Preferences control a variety of items that affect the look and feel of the program, the default behavior of the design postprocessors, and how the program considers live load reduction. Preferences are code specific.

Default values are provided for all preference items. Thus, specifying preferences may not be required. However, at least review the default values to make ensure they are acceptable.

To review and possibly revise the default  preferences click the Design menu > {Design Type} > View/Revise Preferences command to access the {Design Type} Preferences  form. Use the options on the form to change the preference item values.

The Composite Beam Design Preferences for {Code} form is presented using a series of tabs to facilitate review of, and if needed revision to, the individual parameters.

The Steel Connection Design Preferences form has three tab for each type of connection:  Beam-Beam, Beam-Column, and Column-Footing. The diagram on the right side of the form illustrates the location of some preference items. The diagram changes from tab to tab, but it does not change to reflect modifications made to the preference items.
