Forms: Set View Options, Select Groups to Show by Color
Control the building view options using the Set View Options form. Access this form by clicking View menu > Set Display Options command or by clicking the Set Display Options toolbar button.
The option on this form can be used to selectively display various features associated with objects in the model. Various object types, object labels, and certain assignments to the objects (see Object Assignments tab) can be selected to be displayed. In addition, use the form to control how the objects display (e.g., show only edges, interior fill, or a 3-D shaded image). An option is also available on the Other Assignments tab to shrink objects away from their connection points (joints) to view the connectivity of the model more readily.
View by Color of drop-down list. This list can be used to specify that the model be displayed using Colors associated with Objects (as assigned using the Options menu > Graphics Colors > Display command), Section properties (as defined using the Define menu > Section Properties subcommands), Material properties (as defined using the Define menu > Materials command), Groups (see next bullet), Frame Design Type (as determined from the object, section, and material properties), or full color or black and white "color" using a color printer, Towers if the Options menu > Allow Multiple Towers command is enabled, and Stories (as defined using the Edit menu > Edit Stories and Grid Systems command and the Modify/Show Story Data button.
Groups option. When the Groups option is chosen in the View by Colors of drop-down list, a Select button is added to the form. Click that button to access the Select Groups to Show by Color form. Highlight a group in the Groups area and click the OK button. The active window will be updated to display the chosen group(s) using the color specified when the Assign menu > Assign Objects to Group command was used to create the group.
Apply to All Windows check box. Check this check box to apply the selected options to all windows, both active and inactive. Unless the Apply to All Windows check box is checked, the chosen settings affect only the display in the active window.
Set to Default View Options button. Click this button to restore default view settings.
Note: By default, the model will display with grid-paper-type grid lines. Uncheck the Horizon check box on the General tab to turn off those grid lines.
Click the Apply button to complete the setting of the view options. When the Apply button is used, the Set View Options form will remain open until the OK button is clicked, so that other settings can be applied without reaccesing the form. To both apply the settings and close the form, click the OK button only. Click the Close button only to close the form without applying the settings.
