Form: Load Combinations, Load Combination Data, Add Default Design Combinations
Use the Define menu > Load Combinations command to define, modify, and delete load combinations. Load combinations allow for any number of load cases or other combinations to be combined in various ways. An unlimited number of named load combinations can be defined.
Note: Load combinations can also be accessed by right clicking an item under Load Combinations of the Load Definitions node on the Model tab in the Model Explorer window.
Click the Define menu > Load Combinations command to access the Load Combinations form, which offers the following five options:
Add New Combo button. Click this button to access the Load Combination Data form, and define the new load combination using the options available on that form.
Load Case Name. Each load combination must have a unique name.
Combination Type. Load cases or combinations may be combined using linear addition, enveloping, absolute addition, square root sum of the squares, or range addition.
Modify/Show Notes button. Click this button to add notes about the load combination to the model file.
Auto Combination. This display box will indicate if the combination is (Yes) or is not (No) a load combination created by the program when a design is run. An auto combination cannot be edited.
Define Combination of Load Case/Combo Results and Design Selection. Each load case/combination in the new combination may be scaled, and the combination may be identified as Strength, Service-Initial, Service-Normal, or Service-Long Term for design. To delete a load case from a combination, click the arrow button adjacent to the Load Name column to highlight the entire row, and then hit the delete key.
Add Copy of Combo button. Highlight a combination in the list shown under Combinations and click this button to access the Load Combination Data form, which is described in the preceding bullet item. All edit boxes, drop-down lists and options (except for the Load Combination Name) on that form will be populated with values identical to those of the highlighted combination. Values may be revised as necessary and then saved to create a new combination.
Modify/Show Combo button. Highlight a load combination in the list shown under Combinations and click this button to access the Load Combination Data form. On that form, data in the edit boxes and drop-down lists, and option selections may be reviewed, and revised if necessary.
Delete Combo button. Highlight a load combination in the list shown under Load Combinations and click this button to immediately delete the highlighted load combination from the model.
Add Default Design Combos button. Click this button to access the Add Default Design Combinations form; check the type(s) of design combinations to be created.
Note: The load cases used to define the combinations are defined using the Define menu > Load Cases command.
