Form: Slab Properties, Slab Property Data
Use the Define menu > Slab Properties command to access the Slab Properties form and add, modify, or delete a slab property definition that can be assigned to an area object that lies in the model datum plane. Slab property definitions are used to specify the material, the type of slab, and the geometric properties (e.g., thickness).
Note: The slab properties also can be accessed by right clicking the Slab Properties sub node, or right clicking on one of the items in the list under this sub node, both under the Property Definitions node on the Model tab in the Model Explorer window.
Add New Property button. Click this button to access the Slab Property Data form, and define the new property:
General Data: Input the name of the slab property in the edit box, select the concrete material for the slab from the drop-down list, set the display color and click the Change button adjacent to the color box to display the Color form and change the display color for the property data definition.
button to add slab property notes. Click the button adjacent to the slab material drop-down list to add, edit or review a material property. Click theAnalysis Property Data: Select the type of slab from the drop-down list and input the appropriate geometric dimensions (see the File menu > New Model command for a list of hyperlinks to topics for the various slab types). Check the No Design check box if no design is to be performed for this slab property. For all slab types other than waffle or ribbed, check the Orthotropic check box if you wish to adjust the stiffness of the slab in different span directions. When this check box is checked, edit boxes become available to specify the effective thicknesses in each of the local directions, as well as the effective thickness for twist. The local axes may be displayed using the View menu > Set Display Options command.
Add Copy of Property button. Highlight one of the slab properties in the Slab Property list and click this button to access the Slab Property Data form. All edit boxes, drop-down lists, and option selections (except for the Property Name) on that form will be populated with values identical to those of the highlighted slab property. Values may be revised as necessary and then saved to create a new slab property.
Modify/Show Property button. Highlight one of the slab properties in the Slab Property list and click this button to access the Slab Property Data form, which displays the various values that comprise the property definition. Review and revise the data as necessary.
Delete Property button. Highlight one of the slab properties in the Slab Property list and click this button to remove this property from the model.
Note: "None" is included in the Slab Properties list when using the Assign menu > Slab Data > Properties command. When None is highlighted, only the button is unavailable because the "None definition" is empty and has no values associated with it. Selecting the None property definition and assigning it to an object removes any definition previously assigned to that object.
TIP: The Calculator feature can be used to assist with mathematical operations during data entry. Place the mouse pointer/cursor in an edit box, hold down the Shift key and double click the left mouse button to access the form.
Note: When an object assigned a Drop property overlaps with objects assigned a Slab property, SAFE applies the Drop property assignment, superseding the Slab property assignment in the area of overlap.
