Add/Modify Sections - Slabs/Mats

Form:  Add/Modify Slab/Mat Sections, Section Line Properties

Use the Detailing menu > Add/Modify Sections > Slabs/Mats command to access the Add/Modify Slab/Mat Sections form and review, and where necessary, modify the number, location, and extent of section lines on Slab/Mat plans. The default number of section lines generated by the program can be specified using the Detailing menu > Slab/Mat Reinforcing Preferences command.

  1. Select from the Slab/Mat drop-down list the slab or mat object to be reviewed and modified. The selected slab or mat will display in plan in the upper window of the form; the currently selected section cut will display in the lower window of the form. Toolbars along the tops of the windows include standard Zoom and Pan buttons that can be used to modify the display. The mouse wheel also can be used to adjust the view.

  2. Click the Add Default Section Along X or the Add Default Section Along Y   button and the program will add a section line to the drawing. Or click the Draw Section Line   button to draw a section line anywhere in the plan.

  3. Click on the section line of the section cut view in the upper window to select it, hold down the mouse button and drag the mouse to move the line. "Hover" the mouse over the coordinate point or the dimension square of the section until the mouse pointer changes to a dimension pointer (four arrows pointing in four directions); drag the dimension pointer to resize the section line.

TIP:  While moving the section line nodes, press the ‘x’ key on your keyboard to extend lines along the x-axis or the ‘y’ key to extend the lines along y-axis. The sections lines are automatically snapped to 0, 30, 45, 60 and 90 degree orientations.

  1. Click the OK or Cancel button to close the form. Any newly added section lines create new section views, which become available on the Detailing tab of the Model Explorer under the appropriate Slab/Mat object view.  The new views are not added to the drawing sheets. However, any deleted views are removed from the plan and the Model Explorer, as well as from the drawing sheets.

Note: Sometimes the section may not appear as expected or may contain random polygons. In those cases, try changing the location of the section line slightly or resize the section line to avoid object intersection points, corners, and the like.

Note:  If a section view is on a drawing, either by default or user added, the view will be updated if the section cut is changed (e.g., moved, resized) and those updates will be reflected automatically on corresponding detailed object views and drawing sheets.  For very large Slabs or Mats having many objects, updating of the section view may take several seconds
