Form: Drawing Sheet Setup
Use the Detailing menu > Drawing Sheet Setup command to set the size, scaling, and other parameters used when generating a detailing drawing.
Note: It is recommended that the Drawing Setup be specified before detailing the model. Initially, the program will apply the Drawing Setup settings to all drawings detailed.
Click the Detailing menu > Drawing Sheet Setup command to access the Drawing Sheet Setup form and specify drawing sheet parameters:
Drawing Units and Size. Select the Sheet Type from the drop-down list that includes ANSI Engineering, ANSI Architectural, Metric (ISO) and Standard. The default shown in the Sheet Size drop-down list will be appropriate for the Sheet Type selected, although another option can be selected from the list. Similarly, the defaults for Sheet Width and Sheet Height are compatible with the Sheet Size selected. If the Sheet Size selected is “Custom,” user specified values may be entered into the edit boxes.
Overall Drawing Scale: Select from the drop-down lists the Drawing Scale Type and scale for the Slab/Mat Plan, the Slab/Mat Section, the Beam Elevation and the Beam Section. This scaling will be used for views placed on the Drawing Sheets. If the Drawing Scale Type is changed, the other scales are reset automatically to corresponding default values. The default values may be overwritten by entering a new value in the edit box, but caution should be used as this may cause views to display incorrectly.
Note: The default scales specified here are the largest values the program will use. However, if the view can not be accommodated on the Drawing Sheet using the selected scale, the program will automatically select the best scale from the list to fit the sheet.
Text, Symbol, and Gap Sizes: Use the options in this area of the form to modify the default values for the size of the text and symbols, the line thickness, and the gap/space between views used in generating the detailing drawings. The defaults are proportional to the Sheet Size and scales defined in the Overall Drawing Scale area of the form. All font sizes are scaled with respect to the Basic Text Height. Those fonts and sizes, which are used to distinguish the various text on the drawings (e.g., captions, cut line, north symbol), are specified using the Detailing menu > Drawing Format Properties command and the Text tab on the Drawing Format Properties form. The other tabs on that form can be used to adjust the dimension arrowhead style, size and appearance (on the Arrowheads tab), and the line thickness and style (on the Line tab). The View Gap – Dx and Dy values specify the amount of space between views on the drawings; use the edit boxes to increase or decrease this spacing.
Restore Defaults button. Click this button to reset the Text, Symbol and Gap Size values to their default values, which by default, match the Sheet Type and Sheet Size selected above.
Note: The Basic Text Height, Basic Symbol Size, and Basic Line Thickness can be specified/modified for individual views by right clicking on the selected view as it is listed in the Model Explorer or as it is shown in the Drawing Sheet area.
Margin: The values shown here are the top, left, right and bottom margin from the edge of the paper to the border of the drawing sheet.
Border and Title Block. The program can automatically generate the sheet border as well as a Title Block. The Title Block is derived from the contents of the drawing sheet as well as the Project Information specified using the Project Information form.
None: No Border or Title Block is generated. This option is useful while exporting the drawing sheet to other programs such as AutoCAD where an existing title block may be used.
Predefined: This option is used to select one of the program defined Title Block styles, locations and sizes.
User Defined: This option is used to import an existing border and title block from a DXF or DWG file. The imported title block and border are scaled to fit the drawing sheet size selected above.
Sheet No. Prefix: The text specified here is used as a prefix to the Drawing Sheet number automatically generated by the program.
