Form: Beam Design
Toolbar Button:
Use the Display menu > Show Beam Design command to access the Beam Design form and display in the active window beam design information. This command will be available only if the Run menu > Run Analysis & Design command has previously been executed.
Choose Display Type: Select the Display Type and the Rebar or Stress Type. Rebar Type is applicable when the Display Type is Longitudinal Rebar or Transverse Rebar, and Stress Type is applicable when the Display Type is Stress Check. Stress Check is available only when tendon objects are present in the model.
If Longitudinal Rebar is selected as the Display Type and Enveloping is selected as the Rebar Type, check the Impose Minimum Reinforcing check box to display the code mandated minimum reinforcing when it exceeds the required amount calculated by the program.
If tendons are present in the model and Longitudinal Rebar is the Display Type, Stress Reinforcement is available as a Rebar Type.
If the Display Type is Longitudinal Rebar, the Flexure and Torsion Rebar types give output based on strength design. The Stress Reinforcement rebar type gives output from stress-based design. The Enveloping Reinforcement outputs the larger of the flexure plus torsion rebar or the stress reinforcement.
All Transverse Reinforcement is based on strength design.
Display Options: Check the Fill Diagrams check box to show reinforcement using fill. Check the Show Values at Controlling Station on Diagram check box to display rebar at the controlling station.
Reinforcing Diagrams: Options in this area will be available only if Longitudinal or Transverse Rebar was selected in the Choose Display Type area. Choose to display the reinforcing envelope diagram (and use the default or specify a scale factor) or display the reinforcing extent, or display both by checking the appropriate check boxes.
Stress Type Shown: Options in this area will be available only if Stress Check was selected in the Choose Display Type area. Choose to display either tensile or compressive stresses. Stress diagrams are displayed for the top and bottom fibers along the length of each beam.
Plot Type: Options in this area will be available only if Stress Check was selected in the Choose Display Type area. Choose to display either stresses or demand/capacity (D/C) ratios. Display the allowable limit lines by checking the Show Allowable check box.
Scaling: This option will be available only if Stress Check was selected in the Choose Display Type area. Scale the default plot size by entering a factor into the edit box (e.g., a factor of 3 will make the plot three times larger).
Click the Apply button to update the display. This form will remain open until the Close button is clicked.
Note: Beam design displays can also be accessed by expanding the Beam Design item under Named Displays on the Display tab in the Model Explorer window.
