Form: Deformed Shape
Toolbar Button:
Use the Display menu > Show Deformed Shape command to access the Deformed Shape form and display in the active window the model as a deformed shape that reflects the loads applied to the model, or the modes of the structure. This command will be available only if the Run menu > Run Analysis & Design command has been executed.
Load Case/Load Combination: Choose the Load Case, Load Combination, or Modal Load Case option to select the type of shape to display. For the selected option, chose from the adjacent drop-down list a previously defined load case, load combination, or mode shape, respectively. The shape displayed will be based on this selection.
Note: Any load case previously defined with a load case type of Modal will not be available from the Load Case drop-down list – modes are displayed using the Modal Load Case option.
Scaling: Select the scaling method to use. Selecting Automatic will automatically set the scale factor. Selecting User Defined lets the user scale the displacement vector components. If automatic was selected previously, the scale factor edit box will show the scale factor used by the automatic option.
Note: With the active window in a 3D or Elevation View, click the Options menu > Animation Sound command to toggle sound on and off.
button on the status bar to animate the deformed shape of the model. Animation speed is controlled by the slider bar next to the animation button. Click the button on the status bar to stop the animation. SAFE includes sound with the animation. Use theContour Range: When the Draw Contours check box is checked, SAFE will display the displacement components as contours, and when the mouse pointer is moved over a specific location on the model in a Plan View, SAFE will report the deflection value for that location at the cursor and on the left side of the status bar. If the check box is checked, the edit boxes can be used to specify the Minimum and Maximum contour ranges to limit the display of the deflection contours. The default values of zero indicate that the full range will be shown. If the check box is unchecked, SAFE will not display the contours.
Check the Show Panel Maximum Displacements check box to display the maximum displacement value for each slab panel on the deformed shape.
Click the Apply button to update the display. This form will remain open until the Close button is clicked.
Note: Deformed shapes also can be accessed by expanding the Deformed Shape item under Named Displays on the Display tab in the Model Explorer window.
