Draw Grids

Form: Draw Grids

Toolbar button:

Use the Draw menu > Draw Grids command to add grid lines to the coordinate system.

Click the Draw menu > Draw Grids command to access the floating Draw Grids form, which displays the parameters for the grid line to be added, including the Grid System and Plan Offset Normal.

If needed, modify the displayed data by selecting from the drop-down lists or by typing directly into the edit boxes before drawing grids. Use Plan Offset Normal to locate the grid a certain distance to the left of where it is drawn if a positive value is input and to the right if a negative value is input.

To place a grid line in the model, click on a grid intersection or at any other location to start the grid. Grids can be drawn only on an X-Y plane, so working in a plan view is usually best. Click again to end the grid. The grid line will be added automatically to the selected coordinate system shown in the Grid System drop-down list.

To exit the draw grid mode, click on the Select Object button  or hit the Esc key to activate the select mode.

Note: The coordinate systems can be accessed by expanding the tree under Coordinate Systems on the Model tab in the Model Explorer window, or by right clicking in a blank area of a display window showing an undeformed shape and selecting the Edit Grid Data command from the resulting pop-up menu.
