Form: Quick Draw Beams/Lines
Toolbar button:
Use the Draw menu > Quick Draw Beams/Lines command to add line objects along grid lines or columns of your model that can be assigned beam properties, end releases, line springs, or loads. This command works only in a plan view; it will not work with a 3D view.
Click the Draw menu > Quick Draw Beams/Lines command to access the floating Quick Draw Beams/Lines form, which displays the parameters for the line to be added, including Property, Plan Offset Normal and Draw Object Using (Grids, Points, Arch-Layer)
If needed, modify the displayed data by selecting from the drop-down lists or by typing directly into the edit boxes before drawing lines. Use the Plan Offset Normal to locate the line a certain distance from the grid line where it is placed. If the line object is being used for some reason other than defining a beam, such as for adding line springs or loads (Point Loads on Lines; Distributed Loads on Lines), select None from the Property drop-down list and then select the line object at a later time and use the Assign menu to assign the desired property.
The Draw menu > Quick Draw Beams/Lines command displays the Quick Draw Beams/Lines form; use that form to place a line object in a plan view:
Set Draw Object Using to Grids and left click on a grid line to add a line to the model along the grid line between intersecting grids.
Set Draw Object Using to Grids and hold the left mouse button while dragging a window around a region bounded by grid lines to add lines to all the grids included in the window.
Set Draw Object Using to Points and hold the left mouse button while dragging a window around a region bounded by points to add lines around the perimeter bounded by the points. There must be a minimum of three points present within the windowed region for this option to work.
To exit the quick draw line object mode, click on the Select Object button or hit the Esc key to activate the select mode. Data associated with a line object can be reviewed and modified by right clicking on the line to access the {Type Line} Object Information form.
