Form: Steel Design Group Selection
In SAP2000, elements can be grouped for steel frame design. When a group is specified for design, all elements in the group are given the same section.
Define the groups by selecting the frame elements and clicking the Assign menu > Assign to Groups command. Designing using groups works only when auto select sections have been assigned to the beams. Typically, assign the same auto select section to each frame element to be used in a design group, although this is not absolutely necessary. Any frame elements in a design group not assigned an auto select section will be ignored for group design and will be designed individually.
After the group has been defined, use the Design menu > Steel Frame Design > Select Design Group command to access the Steel Design Group Selection form. All of the available groups are listed in the List of Groups list box. The groups actually in use are listed in the Design Groups list box.
On the Steel Design Group Selection form, use the Add and Remove buttons to move groups into and out of the Design Groups list box. Use the Ctrl and Shift keys to make multiple selections before using the Add and Remove buttons.
