Use the Parameters for FEMA 356 Coefficient Method form to specify the parameters for displaying pushover curves in accordance with FEMA 356 guidance.
Name edit box. The program will suggest a default name. Use this name or type a new one in this edit box.
Units drop-down list. Use the units displayed or select another from the list; the units displayed will be used on the plot of the pushover curve.
Demand Spectrum Definition area
Effective Viscous Damping edit box. Use the default value or specify a revised value. The value must be greater than zero but less than one.
Defined Function option and drop-down list. Use this option to define the demand spectrum using a defined function. Select the function from the drop-down list.
Scale Factor edit box. Specify the scale factor, if any, to be applied to the function.
Characteristic Period of Resp Spec, Ts edit box. Specify the period where the response spectrum switches from constant acceleration to constant velocity.
FEMA 356 General Response Spectrum option. Use this option to define the demand spectrum using FEMA 356 General Response Spectrum.
Mapped Spectral Accel at Short Period, Ss edit box. Use the default or specify another value for the spectral acceleration at short periods.
Mapped Spectral Accel at 1 Sec Period, S1 edit box. Use the default or specify another value for spectral acceleration at a one second period.
Site Class drop-down list. Select the classification for the site from the drop-down list. The classifications are as defined in FEMA 356.
Selected Coefficients area
User Value for C2 option and edit box. Checking this check box will make the program use the user specified value of C2 entered in the edit box. If the check box is not checked, the program will automatically calculate the C2 value.
User Value for C3 option and edit box. Checking this check box will make the program use the user specified value of C3 entered in the edit box. If the check box is not checked, the program will automatically calculate the C3 value.
User Value for Cm option and edit box. Checking this check box will make the program use the user specified value of Cm entered in the edit box. If the check box is not checked, the program will automatically calculate the Cm value.
Items Visible On Plot area
Show Capacity Curve check box. Checking this check box will show the capacity curve on the plot.
Color. The default color for the capacity curve is green. Click the color box to display the Color form and change the color of the capacity curve.
Show Idealized Bilinear Force-Displ Curve check box. Checking this check box will show the capacity curve on the plot.
Color. The default color for the idealized bilinear force-displacement curve is green. Click the color box to display the Color form and change the color of the capacity curve.
Reset Default Color button. Click this button to reset all of the display colors to the program default.
Set Axis Labels and Range button. Click this button to access the Overrride Axis Labels and Range form. Use the options on that form to change the minimum and maximum horizontal and vertical ranges and the axis labels for the curve.
Access the Parameters for FEMA 356 Coefficient Method form as follows: Method 1- This method can be used to specify parameters for displaying a pushover curve before a static nonlinear analysis has been run.
Method 2 - Use this method to display a pushover curve after an analysis has been run.
Method 3 - Use this method to save the parameters specified for displaying a pushover curve as a Named Set for reuse in the future.
