Tabular Database Import Options - Interactive Editing Form

The Tabular Database Import Options - Interactive Editing form has options for specifying how changes made to database tables are integrated back into the model database. The Tabular Database Import Options - Interactive Editing form has four tabs.

Note:  The name of the tab appears in all capital letters when that tab has been selected for display.

• Items with Same Name tab. When items in the edited table have the same names, an option is available to specify that the last item with the duplicated name overwrite any previous items with that name (Overwrite previous item). Alternatively, the first item in the table with a duplicated name can be used, with any subsequent items with the same name being ignored (Ignore subsequent items). When items in the edited table have the same names as items in the model database, options are available to specify that the edited table items (a) replace the items in the model, (b) are ignored, or (c) are added to the model with a new name

• Items in Same Location tab. When items in the edited table are in the same location as items in the model database, options are available to specify if the items in the edited table should be allowed to duplicate items in the same location, replace items in the same location, be ignored, or be ignored with specified exceptions.

• Items Deleted from Database tab. This tab has an option to delete items from the model and an option to not delete items from the model. The default is to delete items from the model when the edited table contains records that duplicate records in the model database. With the "do not delete" option selected, records can be removed from the table without removing the associated object from the model. This is a convenient way of removing the records that are not being edited without adversely affecting the model. Limiting the amount of data displayed in the tables also can be accomplished by selecting objects before accessing the Edit menu > Interactive Database Editing command.

• Message Control tab. Options are available to specify if error messages, warnings, or other information should be displayed. Options also are available to specify if the frequency of the display of error messages or warnings should cause the reintroduction of the edited table into the model database to abort.

• • An error should be investigated. It is likely that during the reintroduction of the edited table SAP2000 will have skipped the record/data associated with the error because an error could cause the program to crash or introduce a critical error in the model geometry.

  • A Warning item advises you of situations that should be noted for further consideration.

  • An Information item indicates what actions SAP2000 took to resolve conflicts between the edited table data and the model database.

• Reset Tab Defaults and Reset All Default buttons. Use these buttons to restore default selections to the Tabular Database Import Options - Interactive Editing form on a tab-by-tab basis or for the entire form, respectively.
