Form: Model Auto Save Options
The Options menu > Auto Save Model command toggles the auto save features on and off.
Click the Options menu > Auto Save Model command to display the Model Auto Save Options form.
Choose the appropriate option for automatically saving the model files.
Auto Save Model File at Specified Intervals option and Interval in Minutes edit box. When this option is selected, SAP2000 will automatically save the .SDB file. Specify how frequently the model is to be saved by entering a value in the Interval in Minutes edit box.
When the specified interval of minutes has passed, SAP2000 will display a prompt indicating it is time to save the model. Click the OK or Cancel button.
Always Save .$2k Text File option. When this option is selected, SAP2000 will automatically save the text file associated with the model. The .$2k file contains the complete model definition as a SAP2000 tabular database. The file is intended for recovering the model in emergency crash situations. If for some reason the SAP2000 model file (.SDB) can not be opened, it may be possible to open the model by importing the corresponding .$2k file.
