The following parameters are input for the 1995 NBCC (Canadian) response spectrum function.

v =   Zonal velocity ratio.

Za = Acceleration-related seismic zone.

Za = Velocity-related seismic zone.

Values for these parameters can be found in Appendix C of the 1995 NBCC. Any positive, nonzero value can be input for the zonal velocity ratio, v. Any positive integer, or zero, can be input for the acceleration- and velocity-related seismic zones.

The 1995 NBCC response spectrum function is based on item 44(a) in Commentary J of the 1995 NBCC.

 

Access the Response Spectrum NBCC 95 Function Definition form as follows:

 

Click the Loads > Functions Type > Response Spectrum > Expand arrow command, or on the Bridge Wizard click the Response Spectrum Functions item and click the Define/Show Resp Spec Funcs. button, to display the Define Response Spectrum Functions form.  Then do one of the following:

    • Select NBCC95 Spectrum in the Choose Function Type to Add drop-down list and click the Add New Function button.

    • Highlight a previously defined NBCC95 Spectrum response spectrum function definition and click the Modify/Show Spectrum button.

Alternatively, click the Loads > Functions Type > Time History > New command and select NBCC 95 from the resulting form.
