Use the Wall Property Data form to specify a name for the wall property definition, the wall material, modeling type, modifiers, display color and type, and the wall thickness.
Property Name edit box. Use the default or specify another name for the wall section definition. Note that section names must be unique.
Property Type drop-down list. Indicate if the wall property is Specified or an Auto Select List.
Specified - When this option is selected, the parameters on the Wall Property Data form specify the wall property definition.
Auto Select List - This option is used in conjunction with the Specified option. Assume that multiple wall property definitions have been created. When this option is selected, a Modify/Show Auto Select List button is added to the form. Click that button to display the Wall Auto Select List Data form. Use that form to create the Auto Select List, which the program than uses to select the thinnest wall property that both satisfies the lateral drift requirement and satisfies the strength checks.
Wall Material drop-down list. Choose the material property for the wall from the drop-down list of defined material properties. Or use the button to the right of the drop-down list to display the Define Materials form and add a new material definition (or modify an existing definition).
Modeling Type drop-down list .A wall section can have shell, membrane or plate-type behavior.
Shell-type behavior means that both in-plane membrane stiffness and out-of-plane plate bending stiffness are provided for the section. Please refer to the Analysis Reference manual (Help menu > Documentation > Manuals command) for an explanation of the thin vs thick shell types.
Membrane-type behavior means that only in-plane membrane stiffness is provided for the section.
Layered means the wall is layered. When this option is selected, a Modify/Show Layered Wall Data button is added to the form. Click that button to display the Wall Property Layer Definition Data form. Use the form to define the wall layers.
Modifiers - Modify/Show button. Click this button to display the Property/Stiffness Modification Factors form. Use that form to specify the stiffnesses, mass, and weight for the property definition.
Note: Modification factors cannot be assigned to Wall Auto Select lists, because such lists usually consist of multiple sections.
Display Color and Change button. The color displayed will be used to indicate the shell objects to which this wall definition has been assigned. Click the Change button to display the Color form and select a different color for this definition.
Property Notes Modify/Show button. Click this button to access the Wall Property Notes form. Use the form to record notes about wall definitions.
