Coordinate System Definition Form

The coordinate system defined using this form can be Cartesian or Cylindrical and it must have uniform spacing.

If non-uniform grid spacing is needed, click on the Edit Grid button at the bottom of the form to access the Coordinate System form; use that form to specify the location of grid lines.

To specify a grid labeling scheme, click the Grid Labels button to display the Grid Labeling Options form.

Coord System edit box. An unlimited number of coordinate systems can be defined for a model. Each system must have a unique name.
Cartesian or Cylindrical option.
- A Cartesian system has grid lines parallel to the X, Y, and Z axes of the grid coordinate system.
- A cylindrical system has radial, circumferential, and axial grid lines. The radial and circumferential grid lines are parallel to the X-Y plane of the grid coordinate system. The axial grid lines are parallel to the Z axis of the grid coordinate system.
Number of Grid Lines edit boxes. Enter the number of grid lines for the system.
Grid Spacing edit boxes. Enter the distance between grid lines. Length units are used for all directions except for theta in cylindrical grids, which uses angles measured in degrees. The total length (or angle) in each direction is the product of the number of grid spaces and the distance between grid lines. A zero distance (or angle) is not allowed.
