Select a design strip(s) and click the Design menu > Slab Design Overwrites > Strip Based command to access this form and apply overwrites to the selected design strip(s).
TIP: Use the View menu > Set Display Options command or 
button to display the Set Display Options form. Click the Design Strip Layer A, Design Strip Layer B, or Design Strip Layer Other to display the design strips in the active window, or check the Apply to All Windows check box to display the strips in all windows.
Strip Layer Option. Select the layer with which the selected design strips should be associated.
Note: For strip based design, the reinforcing is assumed to be placed parallel and perpendicular to the strip direction.
Strip Design Type. Choose to design the strip as a Column or Middle Strip.
Design This Strip check box. Check this check box if design should be performed for the selected strips. To ignore post-tensioning during design, check the Ignore PT When Designing This Slab Object check box.
Rebar Material. Select the rebar material to use in the design strip(s) from the drop-down list of previously defined materials. Rebar material may be defined, edited or reviewed by clicking the button to access the Materials form.
Cover. Choose from the following options to specify the concrete cover over the rebar for the selected strip(s):
From Preferences: Select this option if the cover should be as set in the Design menu > Design Preferences command. SAFE applies the clear cover specified in the Design menu > Design Preferences command to the outer layer and assumes that the inner layer is located directly inside the outer layer for both top and bottom rebar. This is the default setting.
Specified to Center of Steel: Select this option to explicitly locate the rebar by specifying the distance to the center of steel in the edit boxes. Typically these values will be different whether the selected design strip(s) is in the Layer A or Layer B direction.
Live Load Reduction Specify a factor to reduce the live load forces used in slab design; most codes allow for live loads to be reduced based on tributary area calculations. The resultant forces in the selected design strips will be multiplied by the Reduced Live Load Factor when used for design. Only forces that result from load cases associated with load patterns with a type of REDUCIBLE LIVE, or load cases that have been user identified as REDUCIBLE LIVE using the button on the Load Case Data form, will be affected.
The default value for the Reduced Live Load Factor is 1, which means that there is no reduction; a value of 0.75 would mean that the forces are decreased by 25%.
Note: Design strip information can be accessed by expanding the tree under Objects > Design Strip Objects on the Model tab in the Model Explorer window.
