Add/Modify Sections - Beams

Form:  Add/Modify Beam Sections, Section Line Properties

Use the Detailing menu > Add/Modify Sections > Beams command to access the Add/Modify Beam Sections form and review, and where necessary, modify the number, location, and extent of section lines on Beam plans. The default number of section lines generated by the program for each span can be specified using the Detailing menu > Beam Reinforcing Preferences command.

1. Select from the Beam drop-down list the beam object to be reviewed and modified. The selected beam will display in the upper window of the form; the currently selected section cut will display in the lower window of the form. Toolbars along the tops of the windows include standard Zoom and Pan buttons that can be used to modify the display. The mouse wheel also can be used to adjust the view.

2. Click on a section line of the section cut view in the upper window to select it, hold down the mouse button and drag the mouse to move the line. Or click the Add New Section  button to add a section through the beam and then move the line.

3. Click the OK or Cancel button to close the form. Any newly added section lines create new section views, which become available on the Detailing tab of the Model Explorer under the appropriate Beam object views.  The new views are not added to the drawing sheets (the Add View to Drawings command can be used to add the view to the drawing if needed).  However, any deleted views are removed from the plan, the Model Explorer and from the drawing sheets.

Note: If a section view is on a drawing, either by default or user added, the view will be updated if the section cut is changed (e.g., moved, resized) and those updates will be reflected automatically on corresponding detailed object views and drawing sheets. This updating may take several seconds depending on the size and complexity of the model.

Note: Sometimes the section may not appear as expected or may contain random polygons. In those cases, try changing the location of the section line slightly or resize the section line to avoid object intersection points, corners, and the like.
