Form: Strip Forces
Toolbar Button:
Use the Display menu > Show Strip Forces command to access the Strip Forces form and display in the active window the forces in the design strips. This command will be available only if the Run menu > Run Analysis & Design command has been executed.
Load Case/Load Combination: Choose the Load Case or Load Combination option to select which strip forces to display. For the selected option, chose from the adjacent drop-down list a previously defined load case or load combination, respectively. The strip forces displayed will be associated with this load case/combination.
Note: Any load case previously defined with a load case type of Modal will not be available from the Load Case drop-down list; strip forces are not displayed for modal cases.
Component: Select to display the moment, shear force, axial force or torsion. For any choice, when the mouse pointer is moved over a specific strip location on the model, SAFE will report the strip force value for that location at the cursor and on the left side of the status bar.
Show Forces For These Strip Layers: Select the layer for which the strip forces should be displayed; the layers may be selected alone or in any combination.
Models with Tendons. When tendons exist in the model, total forces are always displayed on each strip.
Models without Tendons. When tendons do not exist in the model, the Show Total Forces on Each Strip option and the Break into Column and Middle Strip Forces option are added to the form.
Choose the Show Total Forces on Each Strip option to show the forces for the entire strip width.
Choose the Break into Column and Middle Strip Forces option to display the forces obtained by integrating over the column and middle strip widths. The ratio of column and middle strips to the overall design strip width is set using the Design menu > Slab Design Overwrites command.
Scaling: Select the scaling method to use. Selecting Automatic will automatically set the scale factor. Selecting User Defined lets the user scale the strip forces. If automatic was selected previously, the scale factor edit box will show the scale factor used by the automatic option.
Display Options: If the default Fill Diagram option is selected, the strip force diagrams will be displayed using various colored fill shapes. Uncheck this option to display unfilled line diagrams or to display corresponding numerical values on unfilled line diagrams if the Show Values on Diagram option is checked. If both the Fill Diagram option and Show Values on Diagram option are both checked, the diagram will be filled and will display values.
Click the Apply button to update the display. This form will remain open until the Close button is clicked.
Note: Strip Forces displays can also be accessed by expanding the Strip Forces item under Named Displays on the Display tab in the Model Explorer window.
