Form: Draw Design Strips

Use the Draw menu > Draw Design Strips command to add design strips to the model. Design strips are drawn as lines, but have a width associated with them. Design strips are typically drawn over support locations (e.g., columns), with a width equal to the distance between midspans in the transverse direction.
Click the Draw menu > Draw Design Strips command to access the floating Draw Design Strips form, which displays the parameters for the design strip to be added, including Strip Layer (A, B or Other), Strip Design Type (Column Strip, Middle Strip), Start Width Left, Start Width Right, End Width Left, and End Width Right.
If needed, modify the displayed data by selecting from the drop-down list or by typing directly into the edit boxes before drawing design strips. Typically, design strips going in one predominant direction are assigned to one Strip Layer, and design strips in the other direction are assigned to the second Strip Layer. Use the Start Widths and End Widths edit boxes to set the width of the design strip at the starting and ending locations. The orientation of left and right are as you look along the design strip from point n to point n+1.
To place a design strip, click on a grid intersection or at any other location on the datum plane to start the design strip; design strips can be drawn only on the datum plane, so working in a plan view is usually best. Click again to end the design strip segment, or type the length and angle directly into the L, theta edit box that appears in the lower left-hand corner of the display when the mouse is moved and hit the Enter key. Each subsequent click will add another design strip segment.
To stop drawing design strips without exiting the draw mode, double left click at the last end point or hit the Enter key or click the right mouse button. To exit the draw design strip mode completely, click the button 
or hit the Esc key to activate the select mode. Data associated with a design strip can be reviewed and modified by right clicking on the design strip to access the Strip Object Information form.
