Toolbar button:
The Draw menu > Reshape Object command allows objects to be moved or reshaped (points, lines, areas, columns, beams, slabs, walls, design strips, tendons) . Note that only one object at a time can be moved or reshaped using this command. Objects can be moved or reshaped in either a plan or 3D view. When working in a 3D view, try to locate the point being moved using an active snap.
Click the Draw menu > Reshape Object command to move the following objects:
Point Objects: Select the point object to be moved and drag it to a new location. Any objects connected to that point will be reshaped.
Beam/Line Objects: Select the beam/line object to be moved in a plan view. If the selected line is “grabbed” with the mouse cursor somewhere between the end points, the line can be dragged to a new location without changing its length or angle orientation. Alternately, if after selecting the line one of the end points is grabbed, dragging this end point will change the length and/or angle orientation of the line. Length and angle may also be entered directly into the L,theta edit box that appears in the lower left-hand corner of the display. Using this command and selecting a line results in only the end points of the line moving; other objects previously connected at the end points will not be reshaped.
Columns: Select the column object in a 3D view. If the selected column is “grabbed” with the mouse cursor somewhere between the end points, the column can be dragged to a new location without changing its length or angle orientation. Alternately, if after selecting the column one of the end points is grabbed, dragging this end point will change the length and/or angle orientation of the column. Using this command and selecting a column results in only the end points of the column moving; other objects previously connected at the end points will not be reshaped. Use this command to convert columns into brace elements.
Walls: Select the wall object in a plan view and the Draw menu > Reshape Object command works in a manner identical to that described above for the Beam/Line objects. Select the wall in a 3D view and if the selected wall is “grabbed” with the mouse cursor somewhere between the edges, the wall can be dragged to a new location without changing its size or angle orientation. Alternately, if after selecting the wall one of the sizing handles along the edges are grabbed, dragging the sizing handle will change the size of the wall. There are also “tilt” handles on some of the edges, and grabbing these handles and dragging will cause the wall to rotate. Use this feature to convert walls into ramps. Using this command and selecting a wall results in only the wall moving; other objects previously connected to the wall will not be reshaped.
Design Strips: Select the line object representing a design strip to be moved in a plan view. The Draw menu > Reshape Object command for design strips works in a manner identical to that described above for the Beam/Line objects. Design strips may be viewed on the model by clicking the View menu > Set Display Options command and selecting Design Strip Layer A and/or B in the Items Present In View area on the Set Display Options form.
Tendons: Select the line object representing a tendon to be moved in a plan view. The Draw menu > Reshape Object command for tendons works in a manner identical to that described above for the Beam/Line objects.
Slab/Area Objects: Select the slab/area object to be moved. If the selected area is “grabbed” using the mouse cursor somewhere in the interior of the object, the area can be dragged to a new location without changing its size. If the selected area is a rectangular object, instead of dragging the entire area, you may stretch individual sides by grabbing the handles located midspan. If the selected area is a polygonal object, you may reshape the area by grabbing the handles located at the corner points of the object or at midspan. Using this command and selecting an area results in only the corner points of the area moving; other objects previously connected at the corner points will not be reshaped.
Deactivate the Reshape Object command and exit the reshape mode by clicking the button, by pressing the Esc key, or by choosing a command from either the Draw or Select menus.
