Form: Area Object Thickness and Joint Offset Overwrites
Use the Assign menu > Area > Area Thickness Overwrites command to display the Area Object Thickness and Joint Offset Overwrites form; use the form to modify the thickness of an area object.
Note: The area section thickness and joint offset overwrite assignments do no apply to layered shells.
Select the area object(s) to be modified.
Click the Assign menu > Area > Area Thickness Overwrites command to display the Area Object Thickness and Joint Offset Overwrites form.
Area Object display box. The ID of the selected area object is shown in this display box.
Units drop-down list. Use the units shown in this drop-down list, or select other units for use with this form.
Area Object Thickness. Choose the appropriate option:
Use Thickness Specified for Area Object Section Property option. This is the default. When this option is selected, SAP2000 uses the thickness specified for the area section that has been assigned to the selected area object.
User Defined Thickness Specified by Joint Pattern option. When this option is selected, the thickness of the selected object is determined based on the joint pattern selected in the Pattern drop-down list and the Scale Factor specified for the joint pattern values.
User Defined Thickness Specified by Objects option. When this option is selected, the ID numbers of the joints associated with the points that define the area object will display in the Point 1 through Point 4 display boxes. Change the thickness of the selected area object at any given joint by entering a value in the associated Thickness edit box.
Area Object Joint Offset in Thickness Direction. Choose the appropriate option:
None option. This is the default. With this option, no offsets are applied at the joints associates with the selected area object.
User Defined Joint Offsets Specified by Joint Pattern option. When this option is selected, the offset of the selected area object from its joints is determined based on the joint pattern selected in the Pattern drop-down list and the Scale Factor specified for the joint pattern values.
User Defined Joint Offsets Specified by Objects option. When this option is selected, the center of the area object at the specified point is offset from its associated joint by the amount specified in the Joint Offset edit box.
