Additional Form: Advanced Link P-Delta Parameters
Use the Link/Support Property Data form to specify linear and nonlinear link properties.
Note: The software must be the nonlinear version of SAP2000 to use the nonlinear dynamic link properties.
Link/Support Type drop-down list. Select the type of link to be defined. The selection made affects options available in the Directional Properties area and the appearance of the form that displays after the Modify/Show All / Modify/Show for {Direction} button has been clicked.
Note: Linear link elements can only have linear properties assigned to them. In a linear analysis SAP2000 converts the specified effective damping for a link element to modal damping. It then adds the modal damping calculated for all link elements in the model that have effective damping specified to any modal damping already specified for the structure as a whole to get the final modal damping. SAP reports this final modal damping in the printed analysis output for building modes.
Property Name edit box. Accept the default or enter a name for the property definition. Use the Set Default Name button to assign the next sequential default name.
Property Notes Modify/Show button. Click this button to access the Link Notes form. Use that form to add link notes to the model file.
Mass, Weight and Rotational Inertia 1, 2, and 3 edit boxes. Enter values for the total mass (force x sec2 divided by length), weight (force), and the rotational inertias (force x length x sec2) for the property definition.
Factors for Line, Area and Solid Springs
Property is Defined for this Length in a Line Spring edit box. Indicate the length over which the specified link properties apply if they are applied as a line spring to a line object.
Property is Defined for this Area in Area and Solid Springs edit box. Indicate the area over which the specified link properties apply if they are applied as springs to an area object or solid object face.
Directional Properties.
Direction check boxes. Choose the directions (U1,U2,U3,R1,R2,R3) for this property by clicking the appropriate check boxes.
Fixed check boxes. If the Fixed check box is checked, the associated degree of freedom is fixed or rigid.
NonLinear check boxes. To specify Nonlinear, check the Nonlinear check box.
Properties buttons. Click the Modify/Show for All button or the Modify/Show for {Direction} button to access the Link/Support Directional Properties form to specify effective stiffness and damping.
P-Delta Parameters and Advanced button. Click the Advanced button to access the Advanced Link P-Delta Parameters form. Enter the appropriate values for M2 and M3.
Display Color. The color that will be used to display the link on-screen in the model.
Click on the "Display Color" text or the small sample square of the color to access the Color form.
Select the desired new color on the Color form and click the OK button.
