Use the Tendon Section Data form to specify the modeling option, the tendon parameters and properties, units and display color for the tendon definition.
Tendon Section Name edit box. SAP2000 will suggest a default tendon section name. Use the default or type a new one in the edit box.
Section Notes Modify/Show button. Click this button to access the Tendon Section Notes form. Use that form to add Tendon Section notes to the model file.
Tendon Modeling Options for Analysis Mode. Choose the appropriate option:
Model Tendon as Loads option. When this option is selected, the tendon will be treated as a load in the analysis model whenever the definition is assigned to a line object that has been drawn as a tendon.
Model Tendon as Elements option. When this option is selected, the tendon will be treated as an element in the model whenever the definition is assigned to a line object that has been drawn as a tendon.
Tendon Parameters. Specify the necessary parameters:
Prestress Type drop-down list. At the present time, this drop-down list is inactive.
Material Property drop-down list. Choose the material for the tendon. Alternatively, click the + (plus symbol) next to the drop-down list to display the Define Materials form and define a new material property for use with this tendon.
Tendon Properties
Specify Tendon Diameter option. When this option is chosen, specify the diameter of the tendon in the current units in the edit box.
Specify Tendon Area option. When this option is chosen, specify the area of the tendon (length2) in the current units in the edit box.
Torsional Constant, Moment of Inertia, Shear Area display boxes. These parameters are based on the tendon diameter or area. They cannot be edited and are provided for informational purposes only.
Units drop-down list. Use the displayed units or select new units from the drop-down list.
Display Color. The color in this box will be used in displaying the tendon on screen or in printouts, if a color printer is used. Click on the box to display the Colors form. Click on a color and the OK button to change the display color for the tendon.
