Form: Display Options for Active Window
The View menu > Set Display Options command or button accesses the Display Options For Active Window form, which can be used to selectively display various features associated with the objects. Use this method to selectively display various object types, object labels, and certain assignments to the objects. In addition, use the form to control how the objects display (show only edges, interior fill, or a 3-D shaded image). An option is also available to shrink objects away from their connection points (joints) to view the connectivity of the model more readily.
Unless the Apply to All Windows check box is checked, the chosen settings affect only the display in the active window.
Note: If the Not in View check box for an object type is checked, that type of object cannot be graphically selected in the affected view(s). Note that point objects can be present in a view, but be visible or invisible. All other types of objects are visible if they are present in the view.
Select Groups button. When the Selected Groups option is chosen, the Select Groups button is available. Click that button to access the Select Groups form. Highlight a group in the Select display area and click the OK button. The active window will be updated to display the chosen group(s) after the OK button on the Display Options for Active Window form is clicked.
Apply to All Windows check box. Check this check box to apply the selected options to all windows, both active and inactive.
Show Analysis Model (If Available) check box. Check this check box to display the analysis model. If the analysis model is not currently available, the program will prompt you to create it. After changes have been made to the model so that the analysis model is no longer available because it does not reflect the current model status, click the Analyze menu > Create Analysis Model command to create the analysis model.
Additional Considerations
The Display Options For Active Windows form is intended to set the view preferences in the default display. The options in this form control the objects present, colors used, and a limited number of assignments, such as sections, restraints, and labels.
To see the default display, use the Display > Show Undeformed Shape command, which can also be accessed using the F4 key.
Most other assignments are not controlled using the Display Options For Active Windows form. These can be viewed using the Display > Show Load Assigns and Display > Show Misc Assigns commands. Afterwards, the F4 key is used to clear this display and return to the default display.
When any assignment is made, this type of assignment is automatically shown for convenience and verification, similar to using the Display > Show Load Assigns and Display > Show Misc Assigns commands. Again, the F4 key can used to return to the default display.
