Additional Forms: Axial Force Values for {Property Name}, Angles for {Property Name}
Use the Frame Hinge Property Data for {Property Name} - Interacting {Hinge Type} form to define frame hinge properties based on an interacting hinge type. The form has the following options:
Hinge Specification Type
Moment - Rotation. Use this option to specify moment versus rotation.
Moment - Curvature. With the Moment-Curvature option, fill in the hinge length in the Hinge Length edit box. The hinge length may be input as an absolute length or a relative length. Check the Relative Length check box to input the hinge length as a relative length. Relative length is a fraction from zero to one of the clear length of the object, i.e., the length of the object minus the length of any end offsets.
Scale Factor for Rotation (SF)
SF is Yield Rotation per ASCE 41-13 Eqn 9-2 option. This option is available when the Hinge Specification Type is Moment-Rotation. When this option is chosen, SAP2000 will use yield rotation factors in accordance with ASCE 41-13 Equation 9-2.
SF is Equal to Yield Curvature option. This option is available when the Hinge Specification Type is Moment-Curvature.
User SF option. When this option is selected, provide a value for the scaling factor in the edit box.
Load Carrying Capacity Beyond Point E options.
Drops to Zero option. When this option is selected, the load carrying capacity drops to zero at point E.
Is Extrapolated option. When this option is selected, the load carrying capacity is extrapolated at point E (typically extrapolated parallel to line D-E).
Symmetry Condition. Select the appropriate symmetry condition option. The available options depend on which option was selected for Hinge Specification Type: Moment-Rotation or Moment-Curvature. The moment rotation dependence can be circular or doubly symmetric or have no symmetry. The moment curvature dependence can be circular or doubly symmetric about M2 and M3, or have no symmetry. The tips provided in the Requirements for Specified Symmetry Condition area of the form are intended to help explain the other areas of the form.
Axial Forces for Moment Rotation Curves area, Number of Axial Forces display box and Modify/Show Axial Force Values button. The Number of Axial Forces display box shows the default forces applied depending on the options chosen for the Hinge Specification Type and the Symmetry Condition. To change this number, click the Modify/Show Axial Force Values button to display the Axial Force Values for {Property Name} form.
Number of Axial Forces edit box. Use this edit box to change the axial force to be applied under the specified symmetry condition for the specified hinge type.
Units drop-down list. Use this drop-down list to change the units on the form.
Axial Force Data spreadsheet. Click in the cells of this spreadsheet to enter new force data values. This spreadsheet will update automatically when changes are made in the Number of Axial Forces edit box. Increasing the number of axial forces will add rows of data. If appropriate, use the Order Rows button to rearrange the data so that the data are in ascending order.
Curve Angels for Moment Rotation Curves area, Number of Angles display/edit box and Modify/Show Angles button. The Number of Angles display/edit box shows the default angles applied depending on the options chosen for the Hinge Specification Type and the Symmetry Condition area of the form. In some cases, the values in this display box cannot be changed. With the appropriate selections made for Hinge Specification Type and the Symmetry Condition, change this number by clicking the Modify/Show Angles button to display the Angles for {Property Name} form.
Number of Angles edit box. Use this edit box to change the angle at which the forces are to be applied under the specified symmetry condition for the specified hinge type.
Units drop-down list. Use this drop-down list to change the units on the form.
Angle Data spreadsheet. Click in the cells of this spreadsheet to enter degree data for the specified number of angles. This spreadsheet will update automatically when changes are made in the Number of Angles edit box. Increasing the number of angles will add rows of data. If appropriate, use the Order Rows button to rearrange the data so that the data are in ascending order.
Modify/Show Moment Rotation Curve Data button. Clicking this button will display the Moment Rotation Data for {Property Name} form. Use the form to define, review, and modify the moment rotation data.
Modify/Show {Interacting Type} Interaction Surface Data button. Clicking this button will display the Hinge Interaction Surface for {Property Name} Interacting {Hinge Type} form. Use the form to begin the process for defining, modifying or viewing the interaction surface.
