Additional form: Material Property Data
Use the Material Property Options form to specify advanced materials properties and to access additional forms related to nonlinear material data, damping properties and thermal properties.
Material Name edit box. Use the suggested name or type a new name in the edit box.
Material Notes Modify/Show button. Click this button to access the Material Notes form. Use the form to add Material Notes to the model file.
Material Type drop-down list. Choose the material type from the drop-down list.
Directional Symmetry Type drop-down list. Select a directional symmetry type from the drop-down list.
Isotropic - The behavior of an isotropic material is independent of the direction of loading or the orientation of the material. In addition, shearing behavior is uncoupled from extensional behavior and is not affected by temperature change.
Orthotopic - The behavior of an orthotropic material can be different in each of the three local coordinate directions. However, shearing behavior is uncoupled from extensional behavior and is not affected by temperature change.
Anisotropic - The behavior of an anisotropic material can be different in each of the three local coordinate directions. In addition, shearing behavior can be fully coupled with extensional behavior and can be affected by temperature change.
Uniaxial - This type is intended for use with rebar material types.
Display Color. The color shown will be used to display the objects to which the material property is assigned. Click the color box to access the Color form and select another display color, as necessary.
Modify/Show Material Properties button.
When the Material Properties are Temperature Dependent check box is checked, and the Modify/Show Material Properties button is clicked, the Temperature Dependent Material Properties form will display. Use the form to specify temperatures at which associated specified material property parameters apply.
When the Material Properties are Temperature Dependent check box is unchecked, and the Modify/Show Material Properties button is clicked, the Material Property Data form will display with parameters specific to the selection made in the Directional Symmetry Type drop-down list (on the Material Property Options form). Revise the modulus of elasticity, Poisson's ratio, coefficient of thermal expansion, the weight and mass or the steel materials as needed to achieve the required material property definition. In addition, the form has the following buttons to allow specification of nonlinear properties, damping properties, time dependent properties (for concrete and tendon material properties only), and thermal properties (heat transfer).
Nonlinear Material Data button. Click this button to access the Nonlinear Material Data form. Use that form to specify the hysteresis type to be used in a nonlinear analysis and the stress-strain curve definition options.
Time Dependent Properties button. Click this button to access the Time Dependent Properties for {Concrete or Steel} form.
Material Damping Properties button. Click this button to access the Additional Material Damping form and add material modal damping for Response Spectrum, Time History, Steady State, and Power Spectral Density load cases.
Thermal Properties button. Click this button to access the Temperature Dependent Properties form. Use that form to specify the heat capacity and the thermal conductivity matrix to specify heat transfer parameters as part of the material property definition.
Stress-Strain Curve Definitions button. Click this button to access the Material Stress-Strain Curve Data form.
