Form: SAP2000 Documentation
Use the Help menu > Documentation command to display the SAP2000 Documentation form and display documentation related to SAP2000. The form displays topics in a tree structure in a list box. Click the Display Selected Document button to open the document for the selected topic. The document files related to the topics must be stored in the appropriate directories. If they are not, new directory paths may be set using the Set File Paths button.
With the list of documents displayed, right click on a document title to display a description of the document contents.
The listing of documents available using the Help menu > Documentation command can be modified by the user as follows.
Locate the Microsoft Access database file SapDocs.mdb in the Manuals subfolder where SAP is installed; that Access database file controls the Help menu> Documentation command and is used to determine the documents listed in the display area of the SAP2000 Documentation form.
Copy the SapDocs.mdb file and rename it to SapDocsn.mdb, where n can be any single digit from 0 to 9. If there are multiple files, the one with the highest digit n is used.
To add your own documents to the list of documents on the SAP2000 Documentation form, such as documents outlining company standards or documents translated into other languages, edit the SapDocsn.mdb file created in Step 2 using Microsoft Access.
Note: Be sure to use the file created in Step 2 when editing as described in Step 3 because the original SapDocs.mdb (the file found in Step 1) includes the default document title list provided with the program, and thus the original file (SapDocs.mdb) may be overwritten in future updates of the program. Also note that the "Control" table in the SapDocsn.mdb file defines the table names that are used to organize the listing of individual document titles on the SAP2000 Documentation form; that is, the input provided on the Control table defines the tree-like structure used to display document titles on the SAP2000 Documentation form.
Use the Help menu > Documentation command to access the SAP2000 Documentation form. The document titles in the SapDocsn.mdb file after Step 3 should now appear in the display list of the SAP2000 Documentation form.
